Should You Draft New Chicago Bears WR DJ Moore In Fantasy?

In a package for the #1 overall pick, the Carolina Panthers traded star WR DJ Moore to the Chicago bears. Now that he is in Chicago, what is his fantasy value? and is he worth a pick for your team?

In 2022, DJ Moore finished as the WR24 in fantasy, just ahead of guys like Zay Jones, Juju Smith-Schuster and Chris Olave. To be fair to DJ Moore he never really was a fantasy star because of his situation in Carolina, from 2018 when he was drafted, the Panthers have had 6 starting QBs. But now he has Justin Fields by his side, a QB who is primed for a breakout season. So can Fields elevate Moores fantasy value in 2023?

We have seen the threat Fields imposes on the run, he is one of the most dangerous QBs in the league in terms of rushing the ball. He also has a cannon of an arm up his sleeve, we have seen glimpses of it all year but most NFL fans are still skeptical of Fields ability as a passer. This might just cause Moore to fall in your fantasy draft, but the truth is Fields is still probably the best QB Moore has had in his entire NFL career.

IN 2023, Moore is going as the WR22, but he isn’t the only WR in that range with concerns as well. The WR23, Christian Watson may have had a solid rookie year with Aaron Rodgers, but nobody knows how reliable Jordan Love is as a starting QB. The WR21, DeAndre Hopkins, might not have shown any serious signs of regression thus far in his career but it is still a concern given his age, and who knows how well he will even fit in the Titans offense. Out of those 3 WRs i think Moore is in the second best situation while Watson is in the worst. I think that Fields has the ability to be a good passing QB and he is by far the best QB Moore has had. If Moore can produce with Sam Darnold, why can’t he produce with Justin Fields? I am a fan of walking out of the first 2 rounds with pass catchers and then grabbing 2 RBs in the following 2 rounds so if you grab Moore in the 6th or early 7th he could be a solid option for your WR3. In an Ideal world, I would take a TE in the 5th because after the 6th their is a serious drop off in productive TEs. Then I would head in to the 6th with 2 WRs, 2 RBS and 1 TE, in the 6th I would then target another WR, Calvin Ridley or Terry McLaurin Would be my first choice if possible, but Darnell Mooney would also be another solid selection in that round.

So should you draft Fields? Yes, he is a solid pick if you can get him at the right value but don’t reach on him assuming he is going to have a breakout year, because is isn’t but he is still a solid pick in the 6th round who will be highly productive.
