Shaq Rips Ben Simmons Asks Him To “Man Up”

Ben Simmons was placed under fire on the most recent episode of “The Big Podcast with Shaq.”

With back problems, Simmons was only able to play in 15 games for the Brooklyn Nets this season before being sidelined for the rest of 2023–24. However, O’Neal’s wrath did not abate despite his injury troubles.

In the most recent episode of “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” the Hall of Fame center opened up about Simmons’ injury and the terms of his Brooklyn deal.

“Who are the NBA players that you would legitimately buy a ticket for to go watch because you find them entertaining,” co-host Adam Lefkoe asked to which O’Neal said, “Ben Simmons.”

“Ben Simmons, because I would wanna learn how you could make $80 million and play 55 games,” Shaq said.

“Teach me.” Teach me how you could play 55 games in three seasons and get $30 million, $40 million, and get another $40 million just by saying your back hurt. Get some f—in’ Icy Hot, man up.”

Due to back and knee problems, Simmons has had difficulty staying healthy throughout his two seasons with the Nets. Following his forced transfer away from the 76ers during the 2021–22 season, which he missed entirely, the 27-year-old has only made 57 appearances in games.

O’Neal, who has been the face of Icy Hot for more than 20 years, seemed serious while Lefkoe and Jamal Crawford, a former NBA player-turned-TNT analyst who was a guest on the show, laughed.
