In the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the 49ers selected Fred Warner, a BYU football player. Warner and the 49ers agreed to a record-breaking $95 million, five-year deal on July 21, 2021, with $40.5 million of that amount guaranteed.
In contrast to his All-Pro 2020 performance, some would have claimed that Fred Warner really regressed a little last year. Last season, Warner did, however, allow opposition quarterbacks a passer rating of 111.6 with 49 completions on 62 targets, which was a career-worst for him.
Prior to San Francisco’s playoff drive last season, Fred Warner had ankle surgery, and the organization seems to be rehabilitating him gradually this offseason.

In 2021, Warner missed a game for the first time in his four-year NFL career, so this preventative measure is probably merely intended to help avoid any unanticipated setbacks before the start of the regular season. The 25-year-old Fred Warner will continue to serve as the defense’s captain after one full year of his well-deserved contract until 2021.

The 49ers’ secondary should be strengthened with the arrival of Charvarius Ward behind Warner. Warner will still be the key player to watch, both for his leadership and his skill on the field; he is likely to lead the 49ers in tackles while also having an influence on a number of other categories.

You shouldn’t be concerned about Fred Warner in any manner, other than the constant possibility of injury for any athlete. DeMeco Ryans, the defensive coordinator in his second season, has a crucial working connection with Warner, so the linebacker’s position and consistency shouldn’t change at all.
