The 2022 season will be the second season in the NFL for Trey Lance. Fans will be hoping that a second season together will increase the chemistry between their star quarterback and their star WR in Deebo Samuel. In most leagues, Samuel can be picked up as early as the end of the second round. 2021 was arguably his best season to date as he was incredibly efficient and consistent throughout the course of the season. There is a strong consensus among fans as well as pundits that a similar level of performance can be expected from Samuel this season as well.

The talented wideout finished last season as the WR2 overall and in points per game (18.8). Samuel played 16 of 17 games last season and caused a problem for fantasy team owners as they did not know whether to consider him a running back or a wide receiver. Deebo split his time equally between both positions in the San Francisco 49ers’ offense, showing just how versatile and important he is to the team.

Samuel is on the last year of his rookie contract and in the preseason there were a few hefty contracts handed out to wide receivers. Samuel will be hoping to replicate his 2021 form to not only sign a massive new deal with the 49ers’ but also to prove that he is not a one-season wonder and is someone the 49ers can depend on to perform week in and week out.

His rushing stats were as follows last season; 59 attempts for 365 yards and eight touchdowns. Receiving, on the other hand, for Samuel, showed 77 receptions on 121 targets for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 18.8 fantasy points per game, which is second only to Cooper Kupp.
