Russell Westbrook Criticised For Ignoring A Young Fan Asking For Autograph

While making NBA history against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night, Los Angeles Lakers player Russell Westbrook appeared to dismiss a little fan who requested his autograph.

Fans and young children frequently look up to NBA players and other sports legends as role models. However, in a situation that drew harsh criticism after it went viral on social media, Westbrook seemed to pass up the chance to win over his fans.

Russell Westbrook Criticised For Ignoring A Young Fan Asking For Autograph

The 2017 NBA MVP was caught on camera flagrantly ignoring a young admirer who asked him to sign his jersey. Players deserve privacy since they are individuals too, but Westbrook wasn’t exactly surrounded by fans as he walked into a restaurant.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard was approached to sign a jersey by a little child outside a New York City hotel before a game against the Knicks, according to a video posted by TikTok user @jaiglezvideos.

Westbrook walked straight by the child into the hotel despite the fact that he could obviously see him.

Maybe Westbrook is aware that many websites are run by adults who, regrettably, employ young children — frequently their own children — to obtain autographs from famous people like the Lakers point guard before selling them online for a healthy profit. The price of a signed Westbrook jersey can range from $300 to $3,999.

Second, it appears that the @jaiglezvideos account, which published this video, is committed to harassing famous people. You can read whatever you want into that, but that’s unquestionably a warning sign.

It’s hard for me to believe that this video would emerge on an account that follows celebrities around.

What ought to be a moment of at least some celebration of the nine-time All-career Star’s has been marred by the criticism directed at Westbrook for his repulsive behaviour toward the young fan. Westbrook ranked among the top 10 NBA players in assists during the team’s road loss to the Nets.

When the Lakers travelled to Brooklyn without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Los Angeles lost 121-104 despite Westbrook’s 17 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists. It meant the 34-year-old reached 8,962 dimes – and he admitted he never expected to reach such figures in his career.

James is sixth and Chris Paul, the star of the Phoenix Suns, is third, making Westbrook one of three active players on the list. In the opening period against the Nets, Westbrook passed Gary Payton to break into the top 10.

To catch up to Isaiah Thomas, who is eighth, he needs 89 more assists. Tuesday night’s game between the seventh-placed New York Knicks and the 23-28 Los Angeles Lakers will give Westbrook the chance to increase his career total.
