Ronald Acuna Jr. Gained His Swing Skills Back Post Surgery & Fernando Tatis Sr. Has Been A Huge Help
Anyone who has been following the 2023 MLB season is aware of how hot Ronald Acuna Jr., an outfielder for the Atlanta Braves, is right now. The outfielder has an impressive.995 OPS and leads the league in runs and bases stolen.
But almost two years ago, Acuna Jr. sustained an injury that some speculated would prevent the talented young Venezuelan from ever playing again.
Ronald Acuna Jr. passed out in July 2021 after clumsily fielding a simple flyball. He had a total ACL rupture, which was discovered after he was taken away on a stretcher.

Although Acuna made a successful comeback at the beginning of 2022, onlookers saw a hesitation in Acuna’s play that did not present before the injury. Acuna’s career-worst average in 2022 was.266 and he led the league in unsuccessful steal attempts.

After the 2022 season, Ronald Acuna Jr. received a call from Young, a former player who previously held the MLB record for thefts. Young promised to monitor Acuna Jr.’s winter training routine to help him recapture the speed that the injury had hampered.

Acua’s hands should be a little bit lower at the plate, Fernando Tatis Sr. said to him while they were working out in Tatis’ home Dominican Republic over the offseason. This was done to help him to move the barrel of the bat across the strike zone more quickly by making the bat almost parallel to his body. Tatis was a star player when he played for the St. Louis Cardinals, so Acua did heed his counsel.

Acua’s playing has been amazing to watch this season since he consistently finds methods to improve his team’s performance. He is often reaching base and causing mayhem on the base paths almost every time he reaches first base. Naturally, all of this is done with a skilled approach from a possible batting champion at the plate. He’d adore that!

At this pace, Acua will have completed a 30-30 season by August. Before the middle of June, he’ll probably reach 30 thefts. Acua prefers to be the league’s best hitter over leading the league in big flies.
