“Now, Maybe He Is Not That Hungry”- Khamzat Chimaev Believes Israel Adesanya Is Facing the Same Dilemma as Conor McGregor

Israel Adesanya recently signed a new contract with the UFC that places him among the top 3 highest-paid fighters in the promotion behind the likes of Conor McGregor and Jorge Masvidal. Mega paydays have allowed Adesanya to enjoy the finer things in life, like buying himself a McLaren 720s, and gifting his father a Bentley, among other things. However, rising superstar Khamzat Chimaev believes this will be Adesanya’s downfall.

In a recent interview, he stated how being too rich is not a good thing for ‘The Last Style Bender’. He said, “He’s driving like, crazy cars and this sh*t — has a lot of money. It makes some people — they change.” He also called out the middleweight champion for winning fights on points. “When you’re hungry, you fight crazy, like he did before. Now, I don’t know. He just makes the points and wins the fights. It’s boring.”

The pitfalls of having too much money and fame have ruined individuals across different sports and industries as well. There have been multiple instances where an individual has gotten extremely wealthy and lost motivation to continue doing what made him wealthy in the first place. Many fans believe it is what led to the downfall of Conor McGregor as well. However, Adesanya has managed to maintain a level of performance and continues to defend his title against one elite competitor after another.
