“Nobody Can Take For The Rest of Your Life”: Warriors Star Draymond Green Honored to Present Gary Payton II With Championship Ring
The 11th week of the NBA season has passed without Gary Payton II, who signed with the Portland Trail Blazers after leaving the Warriors, making his NBA debut. Additionally, when the teams play at Chase Center on Friday night, he won’t be on the court. The one factor that barely makes Payton’s absence tolerable for most Golden State players and supporters is his long-term unavailability. Draymond Green presented him with a championship ring before the game.
Although Gary Payton II no longer wears Warriors uniforms, his legacy will live on in Warriors history. He is a Bay Area fan favorite and played a crucial part in the Dubs winning the 2022 Championship. The Warriors paid tribute to him with a little film as he made his first visit to Chase Center.

Then Draymond Green gave him his championship ring. Green was thrilled to give Payton the jewelry because he knows and appreciates the steps Payton made to get to this point.
“To understand all of that and to understand GP’s journey, to see him go and get his money, but most importantly to see what he was able to contribute to a championship — I’m extremely excited and honored to be the person that’s presenting him something that will matter and that nobody can take for the rest of your life,” Draymond Green told reporters.
There are two types of defying expectations: the first is what Payton accomplished for the Warriors last year. The lifelong journeyman finished the regular season playing 71 games for the Warriors, starting 16. When his name was called, he was an immediate threat defensively on that side of the field. His offensive developed, which increased his dependability even further.
