NFL Tight End Benjamin Watson Shares ‘Worst Interview’ Moment During NFL Combine

After college, Benjamin Watson has much sought after.

The New England Patriots selected the Georgia Bulldog with the 32nd overall choice in 2004, making him a potential first-round pick.

But he was at the NFL Combine to showcase his abilities before being selected. But off the field, it’s also essentially a job interview for all 32 clubs.

When responding to a tweet regarding the “worst job interview question” users have ever been asked, Watson chose to share an insider’s account of what one of his interviews was like.

Everyone wants to be a professional, but this didn’t look like much fun.

“The [Cleveland] [B]rowns asked me if I ever smoked weed. I said no,” he wrote in a tweet on Wednesday. “Then the interviewer grabbed my wrist as if he was feeling my pulse and asked me again louder. I was seated in a chair in the middle of a dark room with a spotlight on it. Front office stood in the shadows mob style…”

Watson eventually joined the Browns in 2010 and played with them. He enjoyed his time in Cleveland with the new front office even though he was not playing for the “mob style” front office.

“Yes that was at the combine. Totally different front office in 2004 and 2010. Should have made that clear,” Watson wrote in a separate tweet. “And this isn’t an indictment on the city or the club while I was there. Loved our time in Believeland.”

Watson was selected by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft and went on to have a fairly successful NFL career. Along the way, he played three seasons with the Browns, won a Super Bowl, and before retiring in 2019, he made one final appearance for the Patriots.

But most significantly, he didn’t smoke marijuana. The least his pulse indicates is that!
