New York Jets QB Zach Wilson Slammed For The Things He Said At The Press Conference Post Loss To Patriots

Zach Wilson’s performance on Sunday against the New England Patriots was once again subpar.

In the 10-3 defeat at Gillette Stadium, the Jets’ second-year quarterback completed 9 of 22 passes for 77 yards.

Zach Wilson now has a record of 0-4 against the Patriots in his young career, and this was the team’s 14th straight defeat to New England.

The Jets had numerous chances to win the game but fell far short because the Patriots did not score the game-winning touchdown until the final seconds of play on the strength of a punt return by Marcus Jones. Wilson, however, doesn’t seem to believe that his side of the ball experienced any difficulties.

While they are improving, there are still times when they have been terribly weak and like their old selves. Today’s game against the New England Patriots was undoubtedly one of those occasions, as they were on the losing end of a 10-3 defeat at Foxborough.

Something wasn’t working for the Jets’ offence, especially with quarterback Zach Wilson, perhaps just because they were up against one of the greatest defensive minds of all time in Bill Belichick, or maybe it was just “a terrible day at the office.”

Wilson said at the press conference following the game:

Q: Why wasn’t it working for the offense out there today?

Zach Wilson: I just think all around as far as executing, weren’t able to move the chains. They were doing a good job of making it hard for us to get easy ones in the pass game. Couldn’t establish the run game very well. Then obviously I had some I want back. Got to find a way in these conditions.

Q: What happened on that last pass that you had on that third down? What was the thought process there?

Zach Wilson: Which one? The one I tried to throw to Mims?
Q: No, the one that you threw at the very end of the game before you guys – the third and one to Carter at the sideline?
ZW: We called a play for a guy in a boundary. They gave us a coverage where I couldn’t work it, so I just – the play that we called was, I was trying to get the ball to Conk [Tyler Conklin]. Pretty much they double-teamed him. He came back to look at it that way, so he was trying to go across the board, and tried to find an outlet to somebody to make a play there.
and so on..That reaction brought out a ton of backlash from fans that were reading his comments online, with the second-year quarterback getting absolutely slaughtered for his take.
