Conor McGregor has been out of action since his leg injury at UFC 264 in July 2021. However, his fans are eagerly awaiting his comeback fight. While Michael Chandler was initially lined up as his opponent, Nate Diaz, another celebrated UFC fighter, has expressed disinterest in this matchup. Instead, Diaz proposes a different opponent for McGregor’s return to the octagon.

Diaz Dismisses Chandler Fight

Nate Diaz recently shared his thoughts on Conor McGregor’s comeback bout with Mirror Fighting. Despite acknowledging Michael Chandler as a “nice guy,” Diaz firmly believes that Chandler doesn’t stand a chance of winning against McGregor. Moreover, Diaz seems convinced that the fight between McGregor and Chandler is not likely to happen at all.

McGregor’s Shift in Focus

Conor McGregor, on the other hand, appears to have shifted his focus away from a potential showdown with Michael Chandler. After Justin Gaethje’s impressive knockout victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 291, McGregor called out Gaethje as his desired opponent. Diaz, too, endorses this matchup, emphasizing that it would be an exciting clash, particularly since Gaethje is running out of options for opponents after his BMF title win.

Diaz’s Desires: Completing the Trilogy

Despite offering alternative suggestions for McGregor’s comeback fight, Nate Diaz has consistently expressed his desire to return to the UFC for a third showdown with Conor McGregor. Their rivalry currently stands at one win each, with McGregor securing a victory over Diaz at UFC 202. Diaz is keen to settle the score and complete the trilogy with McGregor.
