‘My Performance Was Bad in the First Fight’- Jiri Prochazka Makes a Massive Declaration to Face Glover Teixeira in a Rematch

In a surprising twist, UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has come out and provided a declaration as to his next opponent in the UFC. Prochazka has officially gone on record and revealed that a rematch against Glover Teixeira will serve as his first title defense.

Both men met at UFC 275 and put on perhaps one of the best light heavyweight five-round clashes in the division’s credentialed history. Prochazka spoke out after the fight and explained that he wasn’t happy with his performance and it seems as though this discontent has led to a rematch against Glover Teixeira.

Moreover, he recognizes Teixeira as a worthy adversary and is more than willing to engage with the former Brazilian champion in what will be a highly anticipated rematch once it is officially announced.

“Hello everybody. I wish you a great day, and I made [a decision] for my next fight: I want to fight Glover the next fight. Not because it will be another big fight, but just one reason, my performance was bad in the first fight, and I will show you why I’m the champion, clearly, decisively. And I think Glover deserves it. So here’s the offer. I will show you why I’m the champion.” [h/t mmafighting.com]

After winning the belt at UFC 275, Jiri Prochazka responded to a call-out made by former champion Jan Blachowicz and was more than willing to take on the Polish knockout artist. However, after some careful consideration, it appears as though the first champion from the Czech Republic has had a change of heart.

Glover Teixeira was on his way to winning the fight against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 275 before being shockingly submitted with just 28 seconds left in the fight. ‘Denisa’ is perhaps looking to make his first title defense as comprehensive as possible and put an end to any doubts about his stake to the light heavyweight crown.
