In 2021, Dalvin Cook continued to demonstrate his talent as a running back. Despite missing four games, he still managed to carry for more than 1,000 yards and score six touchdowns. Cook is allowed to eat on the ground by Minnesota since the team continues to run heavily, including wide-outs Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson.

Cook declared he will start wearing the number 4 jersey in the 2022 NFL season after the end of the 2021 campaign. In each of his last three seasons, Cook has finished as a top-12 Fantasy runner on a per-game PPR basis, with two top-three performances.

That appropriately raises the bar for Cook, who as a 27-year-old running back could make you uneasy, but a shift in offensive strategy might pave the way for an outstanding season.

Cook is still his best rusher, but new head coach Kevin O’Connell wants to employ his receiving skills more than previous coaches did. Given that O’Connell has been ingrained in a Rams scheme that likes to showcase one rushing back, it should position Cook for another strong finish.

The best part is that Cook won’t be a top-five pick by a wide margin, which means that in some leagues, you can still select him in the middle of Round 1. It would be wise to pair him with seasoned backup Alexander Mattison (Round 10). To keep Cook healthy, his touches will probably be slightly reduced. He will continue to be a productive runner for his squad.
