Isabella, the 19-year-old daughter of Michael Strahan, was given a brain tumour diagnosis, the two of them revealed on “Good Morning America” on Thursday.

Isabella and Michael Strahan stated that she received the diagnosis in late October and that she has since had radiotherapy and emergency surgery in an interview with Robin Roberts, Michael’s co-anchor.

“It’s been, like, two months of keeping it quiet, which is definitely difficult,” Isabella Strahan said. “I don’t wanna hide it anymore ‘cause it’s hard to always keep in.”

A rapidly growing and malignant brain tumour called medulloblastoma arises in the cerebellum, the part of the brain responsible for controlling movement and coordination.

On Thursday, the father-daughter duo shared the touching news with Robin Roberts during a portion of “Good Morning America.”

When Isabella Strahan started her freshman year at the University of Southern California in the autumn, she said she started experiencing symptoms. Around October 1, she claimed to have experienced headaches, nausea, and difficulty walking. At first, she believed she could have had vertigo. On October 25, she then regurgitated blood.

A 4-centimeter tumor, bigger than a golf ball, was found in the back of her brain by medical professionals at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She was identified as having medulloblastoma, an uncommon kind of brain cancer that typically strikes youngsters between the ages of five and nine.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, when medulloblastoma is treated with a combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, up to 75% of children with the disease survive into adulthood.

In late October, she had brain surgery, which was followed by six weeks of radiation therapy and rehabilitation. She is going to start chemotherapy in February at Duke University, the same university as her twin sister Sophia.

“I’m feeling good, not too bad. I’m very excited for this whole process to wrap but you just have to keep living every day through the whole thing,” she explained.

The model, who just started a campaign with Sephora, is working with Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center to produce a YouTube series to chronicle her journey.

“With my platform, I hope to just kind of be a voice and be a person who people who maybe are going through something similar, going through chemotherapy or radiation, can look at and just hear and just watch, or find something interesting about their day,” she said. “I’m just excited for that.”

The former NFL player is now a presenter and the father of four grown children. He and his first wife Wanda Hutchins have a son together, Michael Jr., 28, and Tanita, 31. He and his second wife, Jean Muggli, have twin daughters, Isabella and Sophia, who are 19 years old.
