Mac Jones injury status: Will the Patriots QB start in Week 7?

Mac Jones, the quarterback for the New England Patriots, will play against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. Jones missed the previous three games due to a high ankle sprain he sustained in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens. But, according to ESPN, he has told his teammates that his development has gone well.

After Jones was injured, backup quarterback Brian Hoyer got the start for the Patriots. But in Week 4’s contest against the Green Bay Packers, Hoyer was struck by concussion symptoms.

After both quarterbacks were injured, rookie Bailey Zappe (selected in the fourth round of the previous draft) took over. Since taking over, he has guided the Patriots to two victories in a row. In 11 quarters of play, he has passed for almost 600 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.

The Washington Commanders defeated the Bears in a poor game on Thursday night. On offense, they were only able to score seven points. They suffered their third straight defeat after losing 12-7.

In the three games, Jones has started for the Patriots this year, they are 1-2. He has completed 66% of his passes for a total of 786 yards. He has two touchdown passes and five interceptions.

Many people have wondered if Patriots coach Bill Belichick will choose the breakout rookie over the once-unquestionable franchise quarterback after Jones started the season poorly and Zappe did well, more than 20 years after Belichick replaced Drew Bledsoe with Tom Brady.

McKenna said to give Jones a chance to keep his team, his teammates, and his following. Even if Zappe has done a great job, the only thing he has proven is that Jones can be given a shorter leash.

Jones, who had one of the best rookie seasons ever last year, must return to New England. The Patriots may have to choose between Zappe and Jones if he maintains the pace at which he began this season (two touchdowns to five interceptions). However, at this time, our comparisons are not apples to apples.

The maximum amount of time a club is permitted to go without a bye week between games is the period between the Bears’ Thursday night game and the subsequent Monday night game.
