Logan Ryan Fantasy: DB NFL Defensive Data, Stats & Speculations 2022

Player Outlook

Adding veteran experience through free agency was necessary for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to enhance communication and consistency on the back end of their defense this summer. By adding Logan Ryan, who has the versatility needed to be useful weapons in the Bucs’ sophisticated, aggressive defensive system, they accomplished just that.

Logan Ryan was nonetheless dismissed by the Buccaneers on Tuesday, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Despite having a relatively successful training camp in Tampa Bay, Ryan was eventually left off the first 53-man roster.

Ryan may be a contender to re-sign with the Buccaneers if other players are put on injured reserve or the PUP list and more roster spaces become available, as Stroud points out.

The roster reduction process is never easy; there have been some trades and roster changes to adjust for injuries, but it is always challenging, just as it is a sign that the season’s opening is finally approaching. Ryan and Tom Brady were New England Patriots teammates.

Two Super Bowls were won in New England. Ryan joined the Tennessee Titans in 2017. Prior to signing up with the New York Giants in 2020, he spent three seasons in Tennessee. This offseason, Brady and the seasoned defensive back were reunited in Tampa Bay. He was vying with others for the Bucs’ backup defensive back position.
