Kyler Murray Could Potentially Be Traded To This NFC Contender

A major NFC team may be among the interested parties if the Arizona Cardinals decide to trade star quarterback Kyler Murray in the next offseason.

Kyler Murray Could Potentially Be Traded To This NFC Contender

Earlier this year, Murray and the Cardinals reached an advantageous $230.5 million five-year contract deal. But Murray will be sidelined for a substantial portion of 2023 as he continues to rehab from an ACL tear he sustained in December, and the Cardinals are coming off a terrible season in which they went 3-14.

It wouldn’t be unusual for the Cardinals to trade the quarterback they recently acquired with an early draft pick in order to sign a new one.

There appears to be one squad out there that Murray might suit well with.

Kirk Cousins is nearing the final year of his deal, therefore Matthew Coller of “The Purple Insider” podcast indicated that the Vikings would be interested in Murray as a possible replacement:

“The Kyler Murray thing, I think there’s some potential there if the Vikings are moving on from Kirk Cousins but they win too many games to get a high draft pick,” Coller said.

Coller added, “It’s not completely absurd to think that could be something of interest for the Vikings. The most likely scenario remains… the Vikings draft somebody [to succeed Cousins], but if they end up with 10 wins and they’re in the playoffs and they can’t get one of the top quarterbacks [in the draft], then what do you do? You start investigating other ways around that.”

There is a significant likelihood that someone else will be the Vikings’ quarterback the next season if they are unable to reach an extension with him before the start of the current campaign.

The Vikings are most likely going to be too excellent to choose one of the top players in the 2024 NFL Draft, therefore the most likely options are free agency or a trade.

ACL surgery is now being performed on Murray, who was injured last season. He may miss the entirety of the 2023 season since the Cardinals have little motivation to get him back on the field, especially if they plan to consider moving him.
