Khamzat Chimaev’s Coach Thinks Its ‘Pure Bullsh*t’ That Fans Are Overlooking Nate Diaz’s Chances Against ‘Borz’ Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev’s coach Andreas Michael spoke to Submission Radio and chimed in on the fight booking of his student against Nate Diaz. The bout is set to headline UFC 279 in Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena and fans are excited to see how things play out throughout Fight Week, leading into the contest itself.

There’s plenty of hype around the fight since Nate Diaz is set to walk away from the UFC and chase opportunities outside the organization. Stockton’s second son is keen to delve into celebrity boxing and fans are worried that his fight against Chimaev is going to be a bloodbath.

However, despite the odds heavily favoring ‘Borz’ Chimaev, Michael believes that Nate Diaz is someone not to be taken lightly.

He mentioned how Diaz rocked the upcoming title challenger Leon Edwards in their fight and also is set to make a lot of money for this contest, a fact that will surely serve as a major motivator.

“It’s bullsh*t. Pure bullsh*t. Like, Nate Diaz has fought (everyone), and given Leon Edwards a run for his money. Like, alright, Leon Edwards was winning every round, but he gave Leon Edwards a tough fight. He’s at no means an easy opponent for us. “At no means is it not beneficial for Nate, because for him to accept this fight, you can understand that he got paid or he is getting paid.” Michael said. “He’s not just going to accept this fight out of nowhere, you know?”

“So it’s beneficial for him as well as it is for us – and it is a good fight. I think it’s a good fight. It’s a good name – a veteran of the game. He’s fought everyone and anyone, and it is a good experience and they were not taking him lightly. I don’t care what anyone says, this is as if we’re fighting for the title.”

While Nate Diaz hasn’t found tremendous success in recent years, it would likely be an oversight to completely write him off. Diaz’s durability could be an x-factor when facing a relentless finisher like Khamzat Chimaev.
