“Keeps Selling the Narrative” – Controversial NBA Analyst Skip Bayless Slams LeBron James Over “Give Up” Speech On Chasing Records
In Anthony Davis’ absence due to an injury, LeBron James and the LA Lakers have kept up the fight for their position in the Western Conference standings. The squad has so far performed admirably. After a significant victory to end 2022, they continued to gain momentum in the following year. Basketball fans were eagerly awaiting the start of the 2022–23 season to follow James’ quest for history. However, he has recently been slammed by Skip Bayless.
LeBron James is still on track to surpass NBA star Kareem Abdul-record Jabbar’s for career points scored. James is currently 422 points short of breaking Kareem’s 1989 record, as of Thursday morning.

Skip Bayless slams LeBron James
LeBron James is aware that this may be one of his final opportunities to pursue a championship as the Lakers fight to make the NBA Playoffs.
“I don’t know why LeBron keeps selling this narrative. It feels like a ‘give up’ speech,” Skip Bayless said.
LeBron says it’s not sitting well with him to chase the scoring title while Lakers lose:

The race to break Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s scoring record will receive a lot of national attention. It was one of the most significant achievements in NBA history. LeBron James currently has 37,965 regular-season points for his career, which puts him only 422 points shy of Kareem Abdul-all-time Jabbar’s NBA record of 38,387 after his 37-point performance on Saturday night.
This should have been a bigger deal than it was tbh…

On Tuesday, February 7, when the Lakers visit the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron will surpass Kareem if he remains healthy and continues to score at a rate of 29.1 points per game. LeBron James keeps downplaying his attempt to break the record. On the one hand, he is aware that if he keeps playing at this standard, he will ultimately succeed. On the other hand, James is aware that the 2022–23 season has a broader objective in mind as Skip Bayless criticized him.
