Joe Burrow or Patrick Mahomes: Who is the better quarterback this season?

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow made his own set of NFL history on Sunday when he was able to beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs for the third time in a row. The Bengals were able to record a 27-24 win at the Paul Brown Stadium in Week 14 and move to 8-4 as they remained in 2nd place on the AFC North table.

But if the game and the stats were anything to indicate to NFL fans, it was simply that a new AFC rivalry has been brewing and one that could prove to be extremely healthy for football in general. Burrow vs Mahomes. That’s it, that’s the rivalry. Arguably, two of the most talented quarterbacks of this generation.

How have Mahomes and Burrow fared against each other over the past few seasons?

The two have been involved in some thrilling games over the past few years and are tipped to meet again in the AFC Championship game this season. Last season, Burrow’s Bengals were able to topple the Chiefs and eventually make it to the Super Bowl. However, Mahomes has the honor of winning a Super Bowl, something that Burrow is yet to achieve. But which QB has the better stats this season?

In 12 games, Burrow has 3446 passing yards and 25 touchdowns with 8 interceptions. He also has 224 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground. Overall, he has completed 69.1% of his 440 passes this season and is averaging 22.5 fantasy points per game.

Meanwhile, Mahomes is leading the NFL QBs with 3808 passing yards and 30 touchdowns with 8 interceptions. He also has 283 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Mahomes has completed 65.7% of his 469 attempts and has recorded 25.1 fantasy points per game.

Although Mahomes is still leading the MVP race, Burrow isn’t far behind. It will be interesting to see how these two close out the remainder of the season and how they continue to perform in the playoffs.
