Jets’ Aaron Rodgers’ Insane Recovery Sesh Leaves Kirk Cousins’ Wife Hopeful Of a Speedy Return

Kirk Cousins, the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, appears to have found motivation in Aaron Rodgers’ ongoing recuperation from a fully ruptured left Achilles tendon.

After undergoing surgery to repair a torn right Achilles he sustained in a game against the Packers in late October, Cousins’ wife Julie expressed hope that her husband could be able to return to the field in February.

During an interview with ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday, Cousins stated, “I think Aaron [Rodgers’] injury was about eight weeks ahead of mine so that’s essentially two months.” Cousins was referring to the Jets quarterback, who tore his left Achilles just four snaps into the season on September 11.

“… Let’s say he does come back, you basically need to add eight weeks to that for when I could come back — and when you start to do that math, you end up past the Super Bowl,” which is scheduled for February 11, 2024.

Although it is no longer anticipated that Aaron Rodgers will try to play again this season, Julie Cousins, the wife of Kirk Cousins, is still hopeful that her husband will be able to return for the Super Bowl this year.

“I said to my wife, because she said, ‘Do you think you can play in the Super Bowl?’ I said, well, ‘If they make it to the Super Bowl without me, they’re probably not going to want to play me in that game,” Cousins laughed and remarked.

In response to a question regarding his own recuperation amid reports that the former league MVP would make a comeback this season, the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback mentioned Rodgers.

The Jets quarterback has been in communication with Cousins, he continued.

“I joked with Aaron — I texted him the other day, that we need to start an Achilles Anonymous group,” Cousins said. “Maybe at Super Bowl week we can have a little summit.

“We can meet in Vegas and invite all the who’s who of torn Achilles, get in a room, and see if we can swap stories and experiences and strategies.”

The injury to Cousins’ Achilles occurred during the fourth quarter of Minnesota’s 24-10 victory over the Packers at Lambeau Field on October 29.

In his absence, the Vikings are in the running for a postseason berth, having gone 3-3.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Cousins had an Achilles surgery that was different from Rogers’, who had a “speed bridge” operation. The purpose of the latter technique is to expedite the typical recovery process following an injury.
