Islanders Star Brock Nelson pulls out his own tooth on the bench

Brock Nelson, a native of Warroad, took care of his own dental work on Monday while watching the New York Islanders play the Toronto Maple Leafs.

William Nylander of Toronto whacked Nelson in the face with his stick, and he quickly went back to the bench. Nelson arrived and found that his tooth was knocked free; he then made the decision to exclude it from consideration by tearing it out of his mouth.

Perhaps the toughest athletes are those who play hockey.

Brock Nelson, a standout for the Islanders, had to have a tooth extracted on the bench after accidentally being struck in the mouth with a hockey stick on Monday.

When Toronto star William Nylander’s stick struck Nelson in the face during the Islanders-Maple Leafs game at Scotiabank Arena, Brock was in the process of clearing the puck out of the defensive zone.

The former first-round choice and 10-year NFL veteran was knocked to the ice by the stick, and when Nelson got back to his bench, he saw that his tooth was just hanging on.

Brock decided to take matters into his own hands by practically ripping out his tooth and giving them over to the dentist rather than waiting for his next appointment.

You’ll never be able to refute their status as the toughest guys around. Brock Nelson ripped out his own tooth after receiving a stick to the mouth.
