Is Lakers superstar Antony Davis a serious contender for the MVP award this season?
The Los Angeles Lakers were able to rally past the Washington Wizards and move to 10-12 on Monday thanks to Anthony Davis‘ spectacular 55 points in the win while shooting 22 of 30 from the field.
The eight-time All-Star has been pivotal for the Lakers this campaign after missing the majority of last season due to injury. Over the last two games, Davis has racked up a staggering 99 points and he clearly looks the part.
But can he sustain this momentum to propel the Lakers to another NBA championship? Davis was vital for Los Angeles when they won the title in 2020. However, there have been a lot of issues stemming from the Western Conference giants over the past two seasons.

LeBron James is no longer the young dominating player that he once was. More so, the Lakers fired head coach Frank Vogel after a torrid campaign last season that saw them fail to make it to the playoffs. There has also been a lot of talk about Russell Westbrook being traded as he has been unable to live up to the hype after being traded to LA.

This leaves a lot to do for Anthony Davis and there is no doubt that he has the ability to take the Lakers all the way once again. The big man just needs to stay injury-free and hopefully continue his stellar run so far. Davis has been in the hat for the NBA MVP this season and he could end up winning a lot more with the Lakers at the end of the season.
