‘I’m Bummed, But This Isn’t the End of My Story’- UFC Veteran Michelle Waterson Gets Real After UFC on ABC 3 Submission Loss
UFC strawweight Michelle Waterson spoke out via Instagram following her submission loss to Amanda Lemos at UFC on ABC 3. ‘The Karate Hottie’ returned to action after a 14-month lay-off, however, the time away from the cage didn’t bode well for her.
She was submitted via guillotine choke in the second round of her bout that was placed as the co-headliner of the Fight Night card. Following the loss, she is 1-4 in her last five fights and things aren’t looking too bright for the former title prospect of the division.
Waterson didn’t mince words when speaking out on her loss and it’s clear that she expected more from herself following an ‘amazing camp’ in the lead-up to the fight. Additionally, the defeat came as a surprise since she categorically admitted to being in the best shape of her life.

The 37-year-old veteran has seen it all, but her inability to stop Lemos from capitalizing at the right moment proved costly and has greatly impacted her prospects moving forward.
“I’m super bummed – gutted, actually, about the loss. I had an amazing camp, such amazing people around me including my teammates, coaches, my friends, my family, my loved ones helping me prepare for this camp. Best shape I’ve ever been in my life. Mentally, I was prepared. I felt good in the fight. I felt strong, and it was that split-second opportunity that Amanda was able to capitalize on, and hat’s off to her for seeing that and taking it.

“I’m bummed, but this isn’t the end of my story. I’m not injured, I’m healthy, I have my family. So I’m just going to enjoy the ride and keep training. I’ll stay ready and hopefully be able to be back in there as soon as possible.” [h/t mmajunkie.com]
Michelle Waterson has firmly affirmed to her fans that this won’t be the last they have seen of her. Additionally, she revealed she’s healthy and is raring to make an impactful return to the octagon at the very earliest.
