“If He Loses You Know…where Do You Go From There”- Sean O’Malley Explains Why He Wants Jake Paul to Win in a Potential Fight Against Nate Diaz
Ever since he made his professional debut, Jake Paul has taken the world of combat sports by storm. The younger Paul brother has done a fantastic job of monetizing his huge fan base and getting them interested in his fights. This is a primary reason why he made upwards of $40 million last year making him one of the highest-paid athletes in the world under 25.
‘The Problem Child’ is set to achieve another milestone in his boxing career. The younger Paul brother is set to headline the most iconic venue in all of combat sports, The Madison Square Garden. Paul will headline the event with his Most Valuable Promotions stablemate Amanda Serrano taking the spot of the co-main event.
At this point in time, it seems as though Paul will take on Tommy Fury on August 6th. However, for a significant period of time, Paul and his camp were campaigning for a fight against UFC fan favorite Nate Diaz. In a recent episode of his podcast rising UFC bantamweight star Sean O’Malley shared why he wants Paul to win if he ever faced Nate Diaz.
He said, “I would like Jake to win because I want to see him keep fighting. If he loses you know…where do you go from there? You take a couple years off. You keep training and you have that same motivation. You still want to be world champ. You still have that confidence. You still want to beat Canelo. Like losing could change so much but I want to see him win. I want to see him keep fighting these dudes. So, I am taking [rooting for] Jake.”
Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz a fight that can take place before the end of this year?
Nate Diaz is on the last fight of his UFC contract and is not being offered a fight for some time now. In a recent interview, Dana White stated that he would be willing to relieve Diaz from his contract so he can take on Jake Paul in a boxing fight as that fight ‘made sense’.
If the UFC does indeed release Diaz from his contract, it is almost certain that if Paul gets past Fury on August 6th, his next fight will be against Nate Diaz before the end of this year.
