Prior to joining the Bucks, he was the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks for five seasons and the San Antonio Spurs for 19 seasons, first as an alternate video coordinator and then as an assistant coach behind head coach Gregg Popovich. Budenholzer led the Bucks to their first NBA title since 1971 in 2021.
