“He Don’t Need to Do the Like, Crazy Things Just to Win”- Khamzat Chimaev Defends Israel Adesanya Against Recent Criticism Over Lackluster Performances

In his very short stint in the UFC, Khamzat Chimaev has fought in two divisions, ‘Borz’ made his debut at welterweight and has fought once at 185-pounds as well. His plan eventually is to emulate the likes of Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier, among others, and add his name to a list of simultaneous two-division champions in the UFC. However, to reach that level he has to get through Kamaru Usman first and then Israel Adesanya.

‘The Last Style Bender’ has been receiving a lot of criticism for his recent performance against Jared Cannonier. Adesanya promised a finish in his fight but showed little to no aggression over the course of the fight.

In a recent interview, when Chimaev was asked to share his thoughts on Adesanya’s recent performance. He said, “He’s doing his job, you know. He makes his money. Now he’s the champ. He don’t need to do the like, crazy things just to win. I don’t know what’s happening with him last time. He fights better before.”

‘Borz’ continued, “Now maybe, he’s not that hungry, you know. He’s driving like crazy cars…Some people, they change, you know. When you’re hungry, you fight crazy. And, like he did before. Now I don’t know, he just makes the points and win the fights.”
