‘He Does Leave His Chin Out There…’- UFC Lightweight Contender Drew Dober Lays Out Plan to Derail ‘Hype Train’ Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett
UFC lightweight contender Drew Dober spoke out, heading into his UFC 277 bout against Rafael Alves as he aims to make a run up the ladder at lightweight. Dober has looked like a promising prospect, however, his career loss to the upcoming title challenger Islam Makhachev certainly won’t hold him in good stead.
Regardless of the fact that he’s facing a lesser-known opponent in Alves at UFC 277, Drew Dober has his sights set on the big fish of the lightweight division, namely, Paddy Pimblett. Paddy ‘The Baddy’ made his mark at UFC London once again and several fighters are keen to face him.

Dober went on record saying that he’d happily ‘collide with that hype train’ if given the opportunity. He recognized everything that Pimblett brings to the table and that seems to motivate Dober even further.
“I want to collide with that hype train for sure,” Dober told reporters, including MMA Junkie, during Wednesday’s media day. “O2 Arena? That would be incredible, but yeah, he has a really solid jiu-jitsu game, and he showcased it in the last fight.”
“He does leave his chin out there, which I think that would pose some problems when fighting me, but I’m open and game for the opportunity, and we’ll see what comes up after this on Saturday.” [h/t mmajunkie.com]

Additionally, Drew Dober also talked about how rankings didn’t play a major role in his quest toward the top. Instead, Dober is keen to face the illustrious stars of the lightweight division and grow his own profile in an organic fashion.
“The rankings are cool and everything,” Dober said. “Being a part of the rankings was incredible, but it’s fighting the stars that I’m more worried about. I don’t care about the number, and the gold is nice, but honestly I just want to be like a Donald Cerrone, Clay Guida, Joe Lauzon. Like those cats who have never held the gold but have fantastic fights throughout their entire career, and I’m gonna chase the title for sure.”
Drew Dober has certainly shown promise in his UFC career thus far and an emphatic performance on Saturday night could propel hm towards greatness going forward.
