Golden State Warriors’ Biggest Mistake of the Off-Season Could be Otto Porter Jr.
Otto Porter Jr., a free agency forward, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Toronto Raptors, the second of which is a player option. A successful first season with the Bay Area’s Golden State Warriors has led to the 2022 NBA champion’s departure. He shot 46.4 percent from the field, added 5.7 rebounds, and scored 8.2 points a game. The journeyman has recently moved across the league, adding a new stop to his NBA career.
The Raptors will be Porter Jr.’s fifth squad in the past six seasons. Porter Jr. was selected third overall in the 2013 NBA Draft. However, Porter Jr. has a link to Toronto because his wife is a native of the Canadian metropolis.
Porter joined the Warriors last summer in an effort to restart his career. The wisest choice he could have made was to sign the minimal contract. He started the final three games of the NBA Finals and participated in 63 regular-season games while winning a title.

Otto Porter Jr. puts Golden State Warriors in a precarious place
Porter provided the Warriors with some defensive adaptability and some frontcourt shooting. He was a fantastic fit for their offense’s emphasis on mobility. He decided against returning because it went so nicely. Otto Porter Jr. entered the free agency market as a bit of a wild card eleven months ago.

Every NBA management was aware of his potential, but none could rely on him to stay healthy. In an effort to restart his career, Porter joined the Warriors last offseason.
Otto Porter Jr.’s deal with the Raptors is worth $12.4 million over 2 years, with a player option for the second season, sources tell @TSN_Sports. It can be made official once the moratorium is lifted at noon on Wednesday.

Porter is the perfect addition for the Raptors. He increases their length, size, and switchability across the squad while also providing the much-needed shooting. Golden State is down two of the eight players who were still in the rotation at the end of the Finals now that Porter has followed Gary Payton II out the door. One of the many strengths of the 2021 roster was its depth, but if it wants to find strength in numbers once more, the front office must be inventive.
