‘Give Me a Ranked Guy Next’- Shane Burgos Issues Decisive Call-Outs of Dan Ige and ‘The Korean Zombie’, Wants to Redeem Himself After Last Fight

UFC featherweight standout Shane Burgos knows what he wants next, and he’s not shying away from definitively calling his short. ‘Hurricane’ Shane made a clear-cut call-out to top divisional staples, Dan Ige and Chan Sung Jung.

He talked about how both match-ups were ‘fun’ and given the way all the aforementioned featherweights fight, there’s no doubt that fans will be entertained. Burgos wants to face top challengers who will help him climb up the ranks as he believes he’s already done his time fighting featherweights outside the top 10.

“There’s a lot, but I definitely want someone top 15,” Burgos said at the UFC on ABC 3 post-fight news conference. “I think me and (Dan) Ige would be a fun fight. Me and the ‘Korean Zombie’ (Chan Sung Jung) would be a fun fight.”

“I don’t know who else off the top of my head, but those fights would be fun. You’ve got guys outside the top 15 that would be fun. But listen, I did that twice already. Guys, give me a ranked guy next, someone that’s going to move me forward.” [h/t mmajunkie.com]

Shane Burgos was also transparent about his own place in the division and revealed that he wasn’t particularly happy with the way he performed in his last fight. He talked about being a ‘perfectionist’ and he’s clearly striving for excellence when he finally steps foot inside the UFC’s octagon.

“I’m not happy with that performance, (so) how can I call somebody out after that last one?” Burgos said. “A win is a win, 100 percent, 1 billion percent. (I’m) happy with the first two rounds, but f*ck – bad taste for the way that ended. I’m a perfectionist, and I feel that’s going to make me even hungrier and better in the long run.”

Shane Burgos is 2-2 in his last four fights and he’ll want to ride out the momentum of the two-fight win streak he is currently on. He has bested some worthy names in the division, such as Makwan Amirkhani and Cub Swanson, but is confident that he’s ready for the upper echelon of the division.
