Giants Legend Eli Manning Gets Booed Mercilessly By Eagles Fans

At Lincoln Financial Field, Eli Manning still faces boos three years after his retirement.

The Eagles cut to a live view of the former Giants quarterback enjoying the game in a seat close to one of his kids during a break in the first-half action on Saturday night. The throng started to boo.

Giants Legend Eli Manning Gets Booed Mercilessly By Eagles Fans

On Saturday night, Eagles supporters played up to their boisterous reputation. Eli Manning appeared on the enormous video board, and the devoted Philadelphians greeted the former Giants quarterback in the most customary manner.

Some of them even gave Manning the double bird as others booed him. All of it, we can be certain, was done with love. Throughout it all, Manning grinned. You can avoid the fan scuffle if you have two Super Bowl rings. Manning provided the concept to the crowd, too.

Fans laughed heartily at the joke, including Malcolm Jenkins, a former star with the Eagles, who continued to do so when the camera shifted from Manning to Jenkins. Cheers for Jenkins and then another former Eagle, Brent Celek, replaced the commotion.

The boos continued as the cameras returned to Manning. He resisted the impulse to flash the middle finger, as he did during the first season of ESPN’s alternate “Monday Night Football” broadcast last autumn.

Earlier this week, on Omaha Productions’ Monday Night Football ‘ManningCast,’ Eli spoke about a promise he made to himself. He vowed to never go back to the City of Brotherly Love after retiring.

“I said when I retired that I would never go back to a football game at Philly, but I think I have to break my promise (for Giants-Eagles). I think I have to go there. I can’t wait to see the amount of double birds I get. Could break a record.”

Video of the iconic Eagles’ response to seeing Eli Manning seated in a luxury at Lincoln Financial Field was posted by Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

Eli Manning played for the Giants from 2004-19, his entire career. He led the Giants to wins in Super Bowl XLII and XLVI. He earned MVP honors each time. And, Manning also owns all the Giants major passing records. No doubt, he dashed Eagles hopes many times. But Saturday was all about Philadelphia and celebratory double birds.
