Georgia TE Brock Bowers One Of The Best Picks At NFL Draft 2024

Late in Georgia’s 27-20 triumph over Auburn, Brock Bowers led the attack. In the fourth quarter, he had five catches for 37, 28, 15, 16, and 40 yards. But, when Kyle Pitts takes the field for the Atlanta Falcons in London at 9:30 a.m. ET, we wonder if he’s smashed the glass barrier for selecting tight ends or just another cautionary story.

TE Brock Bowers One Of The Best Picks At NFL Draft 2024

The highest a tight end has ever been taken in the NFL Draft was Kyle Pitts, who was chosen fourth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2021 draft out of the University of Florida.

Bowers put on a clinic, not only making multiple feature reel receptions, but also demonstrating his unrivaled mix of speed and strength on a game-winning 40-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. He ripped past multiple Auburn defenders on his way to the end zone after finding himself wide open in the midst of the Auburn defense.

He already meets the height/weight/speed requirements at 6’4″, 240 pounds, and the ability to scoot at a claimed sub-4.5 pace. Add aggression not just in his hands as a blocker, but also in his lower half to make defenders miss, go past them, and shake them as a route runner, and Georgia has a really unique offensive weapon.

Oh! In his three years at Georgia, he also has 15 carries for 169 yards and five touchdowns.

Bowers is an exceptionally versatile route runner with natural separation ability, as well as imaginative, explosive, and ferocious after the catch. He routinely catches defensive backs off guard when they try to tackle him from a close angle.

The Arizona Cardinals and Chicago Bears appear to be among the top teams drafting in the 2024 NFL Draft, with both potentially having multiple choices in the top five.

He is not only one of the top college football players this season, but he should be a Heisman Trophy contender and one of the first choices in the 2024 NFL Draft class.
