Former Lakers Star Dennis Schroder Literally Begged LeBron James to Take Him Back in LA and Now the King Has Accepted

On Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers signed guard Dennis Schroder to a one-year contract, bringing him back into the fold. Even while it’s a far cry from the $84 million offer he declined during the 2020–21 season, at least he’s back with LeBron James, who seems overjoyed to have the German on board.

Dennis Schroder was jobless a few months ago. It was a bit perplexing that free agency essentially came and went and he was still unsigned since he still has a tonne of potential and can assist an NBA club.

Schroder thus took the action you would anticipate. In an effort to spark a reunion, he returned to the well and blew apart LeBron’s Instagram remarks.

Lakers set to sign Dennis Schroder

Schröder signed a one-year, $2.64 million contract with the Lakers on Friday, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium. In his lone season with the Lakeshow, Schroder averaged just 15.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds while shooting just under 40% from beyond the arc.

Those scores don’t seem too bad at first sight, but the guard had a terrible postseason, as LeBron James and company were eliminated by the Phoenix Suns in the first round. L.A. now has more point guard depth behind Russell Westbrook thanks to the 29-year-old. Schröder will be eligible to take over as the starter if Westbrook disappoints for the second consecutive season.

LeBron James reacts to Dennis Schroder’s arrival

LeBron James, a player with the Los Angeles Lakers, shared a picture of him and Dennis Schröder on his Instagram account with the caption:: “Yessir!! So damn happy to have you back!! You’re like that! LFG!!!”

The King is eager to play with Schroder once more. With Russell Westbrook, Schroder, Patrick Beverley, Kendrick Nunn, and Austin Reaves, who can also play SF, the Lakers suddenly have a very strong backcourt.
