Final Month-MLB Season: Addressing Unanswered Questions

At one time in the history of the sport, a typical MLB season ended before the month of October flipped over. Even though that is no longer the case, September is still a crucial month for teams vying for postseason positioning, players trying to recover from a poor season, call-up players hoping to make a good first impression, and (maybe only in 2022) future Hall of Famers pursuing illustrious goals.

Many questions need to be solved because there is an entire month of baseball to be played.

Addressing The Unanswered MLB Season Questions!

1) Which individual tale has the strongest potential left?

Chased by Aaron Judge was Maris. The likely American League MVP front-runner is attempting to beat Roger Maris’ Yankee single-season home run record, and after reaching number 51 on Tuesday, he is well-positioned to do so. With only 31 games remaining, Judge needs 11 more round-trippers to break the record, which may seem like a daunting job, but the 30-year-old has shown he can go on streaks. In May, Judge hit 12 home runs in 27 games, and in July, he hit 13 over a 25-game span. This makes all of his upcoming plate performances worth seeing.

2) Which playoff team’s current performance should worry them the most in this MLB Season?

Yankees: After a scorching and occasionally historic start to the season, New York came crashing back to earth and again face serious doubts as the postseason approached. The Yankees have an absurd record of 23-31 since the start of July, and their trade deadline additions haven’t helped them much so far. Frankie Montas, a right-hander, is still having trouble pitching away from the enormous Oakland Coliseum. In his first five starts in pinstripes, the big ball has troubled him, resulting in five home runs in 25 2/3 innings. Who follows Gerrit Cole as the Yankees’ second-best starter during a postseason series?

3) Which manager or general manager needs a successful September to keep their job?

Aaron-  It’s absurd to believe Boone might be fired after the Yankees’ historically impressive start. The Yankees’ formerly unassailable advantage over the Rays and Blue Jays in the AL East has now shrunk to just ten points as a result of their 14-25 record since the All-Star break. The Bronx Bombers should have much bigger expectations than just winning the division in September, which is probably all it will take. For the Yankees to gain some momentum going into the playoffs, they must begin to play well once more. This squad feels like a bust if they don’t make the World Series, and it might cost Boone his job.

4) Which team outside the playoffs has the greatest potential to influence the postseason picture?

Red Sox: Boston will have a chance to affect the playoff picture before returning home for the winter following a difficult season under Alex Cora’s leadership. The Red Sox will face their four AL East opponents in 22 of their last 31 games, three of whom are competing for wild-card places and postseason positioning. In this division, rivalries frequently turn physical, and it stands to reason that Boston would love nothing more than to play spoiler for someone in the final run. The Red Sox will influence the AL playoff scenario in some way, even if they might not have much hope left.
