Fantasy Implications Of DeAndre Hopkins To the Titans
DeAndre Hopkins signed a 2 year, 26 Million dollar deal this week with the Tennessee Titans, but what implications does it have everybody’s fantasy drafted for this season?
After Months of speculation, DeAndre Hopkins has signed with the Tennessee Titans, the Titans won’t be contending for a Super Bowl in 2023, but atleast D-Hop got a massive pay day. According to Hopkins’s wishlist, he wanted stable Management, a great defense and a great QB, none of which the Titans have. The Defensive line isn’t bad but the unit as a hole isn’t great and Tannehill isn’t bad but he isn’t ‘great’ like Hopkins wanted.
D-Hop definitely has a higher ceiling in Tennessee then he did in Arizona, with Kyler Murray out for the first portion of the season, if I had D-Hop on my team I would rather him with QB Ryan Tannehill than with Colt McCoy.
Hopkins finished last season with 717 yards only playing 9 games, after being suspended the first 6 for PED usage. Hopkins hasn’t finished a season with 1000+ yards since 2020, but this might be Hopkins best opportunity to be a big time weapon since the. It’s no secret D-Hop is well passed him prime, but being in an offense ran by HC Mike Vrabel and QB Ryan Tannehill, could possibly make him worth the pick in fantasy, so let’s look at it.
From Week 15: Ryan Tannehill extended the ball over the pylon and scored a TD. Mike Vrabel didn't even congratulate him. Vrabel has a policy not to extend the ball. The risk outweighs the reward.pic.twitter.com/qBxJM7E6Yf

In 2020 he finshed as the WR4 in fantasy, he won’t achieve those numbers this year but he might be able to finish in the respectable top 20 range. He is currently being drafted as the WR19 and the 49th overall pick, some notable names behind him are, Calvin Ridley, Mike Williams and Terry McLaurin. Personally, I would draft all 3 of those guys ahead of DeAndre Hopkins. D Hop might be the clear cut WR1 in his system but how can he perform himself? Ridley hasn’t played a game in a year but he has elite QB play. Williams always is respectable in fantasy, last year he finished as the WR31 and in 2021 the WR12, and Mclaurin is playing the best football of his career. But picking Hopkins at the 49th overall is to risky given some of the talent that is still on the board. If Hopkins is on the board a round later at 62 or so, maybe i would take a chance on him. Even outside of running backs at 49, you could possible grab players like Dameon Pierce, Justin Herbert and Aaron Jones, all players who can potential be top 10 in their position, a ceiling Hopkins doesn’t have anymore. The Titans ranked bottom 3 in passing yards last year, the 2 teams that finished below them where the Falcons and the Bears, none of those teams had a WR that ranked within the top 30 WRs last year. Taking a risk on a WR from one of those teams, like D-Hop doesn’t make any sense if you are looking to win your fantasy leagues.
