Jutta Leerdam, a world champion speed skater, claimed that her “extra fat” contributed to her recent success on the ice, which included gold medal victories and record-breaking performances this month. Leerdam, who has a sizable social media following, claimed earlier this week in an interview with NPO Radio that her extraordinary success is caused by her “excess fat.”

“I have become stronger and heavier,” Leerdam told NPO Radio 1 in an interview and said, “I now use that extra fat as strength.”

Leerdam, a social media influencer with more than 3 million Instagram followers, won the NK sprint for the third time in her career while also breaking two records. The Dutch athlete, who is also an Olympian, excels in the 1,000-meter race and earlier this month took home a gold medal in that competition.
