Expenses So High That 49ers QB Brock Purdy Is Living With A Roommate

Brock Purdy is quite famous. He is the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, who are in contention for the Super Bowl. He is the focal point of a squad that, in NFL Week 5, is battling the Dallas Cowboys for NFC dominance. He is both a folk hero and a celebrity.

49ers QB Brock Purdy Is Living With A Roommate

Brock Purdy’s earnings as a 2022 seventh-round pick remain much lower than the average NFL starting quarterback.

Purdy is in his second season with the San Francisco 49ers, earning $870,000. It is the bare minimum for an NFL player with one year of service in 2023.

Purdy has maintained a conservative lifestyle while faring significantly better than the average 23-year-old. During an appearance on TODAY, Purdy said he’s roommates with one of his offensive linemen.

“So he and I are still splitting the rent,” Purdy said.

Of fact, even a poorly compensated NFL player is in better shape than 99 per cent of the population. Purdy might afford to live on his own, but there’s no harm in cutting expenditures early in his career.

After all, San Francisco has the third-highest cost of living in the United States, after only Manhattan and Honolulu.

That living situation is likely to change shortly. Purdy got engaged in July, so his girlfriend may not be thrilled with the prospect of living with another roommate when they marry.

“I’m still driving my Toyota.” While the California towns of San Diego, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara are more costly than San Francisco, the city still ranks sixth in the United States.

Purdy is 11-1 as a starter for the 49ers since taking over last season, and if his play continues in the same vein, he will be rewarded handsomely.

Purdy is also positioning himself for a huge increase. Through 13 career regular-season games, he has 2,393 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, four interceptions, and a 110.4 quarterback rating.

Purdy will lead the unbeaten 49ers into a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Dallas Cowboys.
