ESPN Rankings Details The Worst Case Scenario For Michigan

The two-time reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs are at the top of the inaugural college football Power Rankings. The battle for second place between Michigan and Ohio State is tight, with the Wolverines edging out the Buckeyes.

Alabama, LSU, and USC are among the other top 10 teams, and Florida State and Texas are trying to regain their old grandeur in 2023.

ESPN Rankings Details The Worst Case Scenario For Michigan

These rankings are given by ESPN Detailing what can go wrong for the teams this season.

For head coach Jim Harbaugh and his team this season, ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren ranked the worst-case scenario.

“10-2 with losses to Penn State and Ohio State. Maryland has an argument here to make it 9-3, but the way this team is set up, this should be its floor. The Wolverines can’t look past Penn State, though, as that team will be better than last season. Quarterback Drew Allar has all the tools to be an excellent passer for Penn State, and the offense returns running backs Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen, who combined for 1,928 yards and 22 touchdowns last season.

“The Buckeyes are on a mission to end their losing streak to Michigan and have spent the entire offseason focusing on the last two games of their season. Those two losses would be devastating to Michigan’s season.”

Well, Michigan’s objective is to get to the championship game and win a national championship after winning the Big Ten championship and reaching the playoff the previous two seasons.

J.J. McCarthy, the club’s quarterback, and the excellent running back tandem of Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards are both returning as starters, and the squad also addressed some voids through the transfer portal in the winter.

East Carolina, UNLV, Bowling Green, and Rutgers are on the team’s back-loaded schedule to open the year, followed by Penn State, Maryland, and Ohio State to close it off. The Wolverines have the elements to accomplish their objective, but how far they advance will depend on that stretch.
