According to KHOU-TV, Jarvon Coles, a standout student at North Shore High School, was shot and died earlier this month at a home party in Humble, Texas.

After learning of Coles’ passing, Hurts, a football player at rival Channelview High School, made the decision to cover Coles’ burial expenses, according to Rapoport.

When discussing his late grandson’s influence on the community, Jarvon Coles’ grandpa mentioned his 4.1 GPA as evidence of his unique character.

Coles was found with a gunshot wound to the chest, indicating that one or more shooters had targeted him on purpose, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Over fifty individuals attended the home party that the young football star had attended. The incident was also characterized by Sheriff Gonzalez as a drive-by gunshot.

Hurts’ altruistic gesture gave the player’s family some hope among the sorrow. Hurts’ leadership and empathy have been highlighted as two of the rising player’s main assets, in addition to his outstanding performance as a dual-threat quarterback.
