Does Stephen Curry deserve to be in the Hall of Fame?

With Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Kobe Bryant being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame 2021 class, many wonders if Stephen Curry will make it into the hall of fame someday.

Well, it is a little early to speculate as Curry still has plenty of years left in his tank. Though Curry turned 33 this year, with his remarkable shooting and long-range, he can play well into his 40’s. But let’s have a look at what Curry has accomplished so far. He is a 3 time NBA champion, 2 time NBA MVP, one of which he won unanimously. Curry has had 7 all-star appearances, 3 times all NBA first team, 2 times all NBA second team, 2016 NBA scoring champion and steals leader, and now is the highest scorer in Warriors history. And very recently, Steph also became the all-time assists leader for the Golden State Warriors as well.

As many had counted the Warriors out of playoff contention, Curry has been proving those critics wrong and will battle against the Los Angeles Lakers in the play-in tournament.

Many had also counted out the Warriors due to the departure of Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets and the injury to Klay Thompson. But that may have been a blessing in disguise as they were able to land James Wiseman in the 2020 NBA draft.

Wiseman, though still developing as a center, has a lot of untapped potentials. He stands at 7′ feet with a wingspan larger than his height. And once he develops into a sturdy center, he will be grabbing boards left and right if the splash brothers ever miss.

Klay Thompson will make a full recovery by next year and Wiseman too will have gained enough experience to burst out. So it is clear that the Warriors will be back not just in the playoffs but in the finals as well. This means Curry will win more championships in the coming future. And the type of games he has had these past few months have been nothing but spectacular.

Apart from winning championships, Stephen Curry changed the game of basketball with his relentless shooting. Teams have started forming defenses around Stephen Curry and his knockdown shooting. Players would much rather shoot the three than go for an inside two.
Curry is on his way to beat Ray Allen’s record for most three’s in NBA history and will most likely also break into the top 10 scorers in NBA history. Curry does not look like he is slowing down anytime soon and is only going to dazzle us with his plays on the court.

Curry is definitely going down as one of the best point guards to ever play the game and also the best shooter the game has ever seen so far with his limitless range on the court.

So to sum it up, yes. I do think Stephen Curry deserves a spot in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame when his career is all said and done with.
