Israel Adesanya’s astronomic rise up the ranks of the UFC’s middleweight division was a thing of wonder, and fans will talk about his ascent for a meaningful period of time. ‘The Last Stylebender’ looked virtually untouchable in the cage and his prowess in the striking department was second to none.

Israel Adesanya recounts UFC 234 fight against Anderson Silva

Adesanya was landing some significant blows on Silva, and the aging Brazilian veteran was certainly sharp in his own right. In a recent interview, Israel Adesanya admitted that Anderson Silva hurt him so badly at one point in that fight that he ended up seeing three Silva’s standing in front of him.

Israel Adesanya had to compose himself and kept reminding his inner consciousness that he couldn’t be finished by ‘The Spider’ on the biggest stage.

“He got me there and then boom. I saw three Silvas there. He knew I was hurt and he was trying to finish the fight. I was like ‘Okay I need to maintain the distance. Ultimately, Israel Adesanya persevered and ended up securing the win over Anderson Silva via unanimous decision after three hard-fought rounds. Fans couldn’t get over the technical battle that they had just witnessed and the scrap will go down as an all-time classic in Adesanya’s catalog.

‘The Last Stylebender’ would go on to rack up several more impressive wins and his only loss has come to Jan Blachowicz during his move to the light heavyweight division. In fact, Adesanya’s very next fight against Kelvin Gastelum solidified his place as an all-time great talent and he’s now a mainstream champion in the UFC.
