Conor McGregor To Not Face Sexual Assault Charges Post Allegations At NBA Finals

Conor McGregor, the star of the UFC, will not be prosecuted criminally for allegedly committing sexual assault during an NBA Finals game in Miami earlier this year.

“A statement provided to ESPN stated that the Miami Police Department will not pursue any charges and the case will be closed,” the State Attorney’s Office said.

Following their determination that there was “insufficient evidence” to support McGregor’s accuser’s claims, prosecutors decided not to press charges against him, as TMZ Sports had reported on Wednesday.

During a Heat vs. Nuggets NBA Finals game at Kaseya Center, a lady accused UFC star Conor McGregor of sexually abusing her in the restroom. McGregor has always insisted he did nothing wrong.

The lady accused McGregor of kissing her angrily in a letter to his team. Later, footage of McGregor and the accuser going together to the restroom emerged. McGregor refuted the claims right away.

The alleged event happened in June during Game 4 of the Finals. The lady also claimed that by shoving her into the restroom and dividing her from her buddy, NBA security and the Miami Heat were complicit in the incident.

Another explanation given by the authorities for not pressing charges was “contradicting and/or no corroborating witnesses.”

“In light of the above facts and circumstances, the State would not be able to satisfy its burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt,” prosecutors wrote in a closeout memo, according to the same TMZ report.

Additionally, according to TMZ, she was spotted out at a club with McGregor AFTER the two of them exited the restroom where she claimed to have been beaten.

“We did not hear any signs of distress or sounds that would corroborate that whatever was occurring was not consensual,” the restroom attendant outside the building reported to the authorities.

McGregor’s attorney told TMZ, “After a thorough investigation, including a review of videos and interviews with eyewitnesses, the authorities have concluded that there is no case to pursue against my client, Conor McGregor. On behalf of my client, his family and his fans we are pleased this is now over.”

The UFC has not seen McGregor (22-6) compete since he damaged his leg in a July 2021 fight against Dustin Poirier. Re-entering the UFC’s anti-doping drug testing pool is a big step toward a possible comeback.
