Chicago Bears Duo of Darnell Mooney and Justin Fields’ Bond Give the Idea of Positivity to the City of Chicago
Justin Fields at quarterback and Darnell Mooney at wide have spent the most time together this offseason of any Chicago Bears teammates. When the offseason program started in April, the two continued to push each other both on and off the field. They trained together in Atlanta in March while Mooney stayed at Fields’ house.
This offseason, Bears quarterback Justin Fields and wide receiver Darnell Mooney have essentially lived together. Since the first day of the NFL offseason, the young duo has been focusing on improving their relationship while working out together.
There are many reasons to be optimistic about the Fields-Mooney combination in 2022. Mooney is Fields’ best choice because of his untested receiving group. So it comes as no surprise that they have been collaborating constantly.
Mooney and Fields could pave the way for the future of the Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears have a new coach and general manager, a diminished roster due to Mack and other players leaving, and a general sense of melancholy as a result of years and decades of being mistreated and disappointed. In my perspective, Mooney and Fields work best together. You can’t help but feel good about the culture the Bears are creating when you hear the pair talk about how much better/different this coaching staff works and how committed they are.

In 2022, Fields and Mooney want to build on the rapport they established during their first season of work together last year. Their connection was obvious during a workout in the Walter Payton Center about two weeks ago. Under the direction of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, the Bears are utilizing a new approach that is “extremely quarterback friendly.”

It entails using a lot of Fields’ strengths, such as his movement and accuracy with deep balls. Chicago’s handling of Fields this summer has drawn a lot of criticism, including remarks about its supporting cast. Mooney, though, has high hopes for his quarterback in 2022.
