Celtics Star Jaylen Brown Compares His Team to Kawhi Leonard’s Los Angeles Clippers After Fourth Straight Win

After a rough stretch in which they lost five of six, the Boston Celtics have won four straight games. True, two of the victories came against weaker opponents, but the other two were against title contenders. And in both victories, Boston demonstrated in spades why they are a serious contender to return to the NBA Finals. One of the top NBA teams when healthy is the Los Angeles Clippers.

They’ve also been among the league’s top defensive clubs. The Celtics beat them by 116 points, and it may have been more. The team of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown traveled to the team of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and the result was a 116-110 Celtics triumph.

Each of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 29 points while shooting a combined 43 percent from the field. The team didn’t have a particularly productive night, but they were still able to outperform Leonard and George to win. The squad, which is still immensely well-liked around the NBA, has the greatest record since 2008, the year it won its last championship ring.

“I don’t think [outscoring Leonard and George] means anything without a win,” Jaylen Brown said postgame. “I think that’s what both teams are playing for, to win. Obviously, a lot of our jobs is to score the ball and put the ball in the basket, but it’s to help our team win. To outscore them means a lot less if we lost the game. I think just focusing on winning was the emphasis tonight. I didn’t want to lose and we just had to make plays. We made plays when we needed to and it helped us win.”
