Can Green Bay Packers Convince Aaron Rodgers To Stay With Them?

Do you want Aaron Rodgers to quit the Green Bay Packers?

Aaron Rodgers has been so angry with the Green Bay Packers that he has told certain members of the organization that he would not play for them again. Part of it is because general manager Brian Gutekunst not only picked quarterback Jordan Love in 2020 as a potential replacement for Rodgers and moved up in the first round to do so, but he also didn’t tell Rodgers about his plans.

Now that Rodgers has won his third MVP award in his career, the power balance appears to have swung back to him.

Rodgers has made up his mind

There has been a lot of “breaking” news and speculations coming out from the Green Bay camp over the last few months. Rumors have it that Rodgers has threatened to retire, and the quarterback has even stated that he would not play for Green Bay as long as Brian Gutekunst is still the team’s general manager.

Rodgers was reportedly said to have a desire to be dealt with the 49ers, Raiders, or Broncos. San Francisco stated that it had inquired about a deal, but that it had been turned down. So, after so many downs and lows (there aren’t any ups in the current situation), what does await in Rodgers’ football fate? Will we again see him don the green shirt? Well, there is a thin chance. And for that to happen, the Packers’ management must get rid of their ego and agree to the demands of the reigning MVP.

Rodgers knew this time was approaching

Back on August 30, 2018, just a day after Rodgers inked a $134 million contract extension deal with the Green Bay Packers that would last through 2023, the three-time MVP commented something that seems to have come on the verge of being the truth.

On that day, the quarterback had said, “I don’t think this guarantees anything other than maybe the first three years of the deal. I want to go out and prove that I’m still an elite player in this league, and if I do that then I’ll feel good. I’ve got the opportunity to finish my career in Green Bay, but I’m definitely not arrogant in the mindset that it would never happen to me. It happened to [Brett Favre], it can happen to any of us.”

Aaron Rodgers wants to be successful elsewhere

Considering his statement, it can be estimated that Rodgers might be unhappy with his franchise currently, but he will not be disheartened if he needs to move to a new club. It was his vision to play for any club other than the Packers and prove his versatility in his new shirt. And that’s completely understandable. No player wants to be overshadowed by the legacy of his team. Rodgers would want people to remember him as a player who tasted similar success in different clubs.

For instance, Tom Brady; the greatest of all, has won the Super Bowl for two separate teams, that too at 43. Situations and achievements like this make a player a legend. Rodgers is certainly a big name in American football. But he will want to be remembered as an all-around quarterback, and not only Green Bay’s possession. So, it seems the Packers management has to really grind it out to convince the 37-year old to stay.
