Cam Newton Takes A Dig At QB Brock Purdy, Calls Him A ‘game manager’
In his heyday, Cam Newton was one of the NFL’s top players and even won an MVP award. The former quarterback for the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers currently broadcasts a podcast. He referred to quarterback Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers as a game manager in the most recent episode.
Cam Newton Takes A Dig At QB Brock Purdy, Calls Him A ‘Game Manager’
The Heisman Trophy winner and former star of the Carolina Panthers was thought to be one of the most explosive quarterbacks of his time for a spell.
Following the signing of a $103.8 million, five-year contract agreement prior to the 2015 season, Newton won NFL MVP and guided the Panthers to the Super Bowl. In addition to adding another 132 carries for 636 yards and 10 touchdowns as well as 3,387 yards, 35 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions, he concluded the season.
Woah: Cam Newton says Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa and Jared Goff are all game managers… 👀

This season, McCaffrey has run for about 1,200 yards, while Purdy has passed for over 3,500 yards to the 49ers. With the 49ers plodding through a difficult schedule that included a recent game in Philadelphia against the reigning NFC champs, Purdy has passed for 25 touchdowns against just 7 interceptions.
Right now, the front-runners for NFL Offensive MVP are quarterback Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys and Brock Purdy of the 49ers.
Prescott has only six interceptions, leads the NFL in touchdowns (28), is fourth in passing yards (3,505), and has the second-best QBR (74.6).
Oh boy.. former NFL QB Cam Newton claims that #Dolphins Tua, #Cowboys Dak Prescott, #Lions Jared Goff and #49ers Brock Purdy are all "Game managers."

In a recent podcast, Newton discussed the top quarterbacks in the NFL right now, mentioning Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.
“But Brock, they aren’t winning because of him,” Newton said. “He’s managing the game. And if we were to put that in it’s own right as game managers, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa and Jared Goff. And really, Dak Prescott, these are game managers, they’re not difference makers. Listen, I don’t give a damn what you do, you don’t have to score every time, you just don’t have to throw a pick every time either. If we are really going to call a spade a spade, a game manager is different than a game changer.”
Newton’s assessment is utterly ridiculous when considering the quarterbacks in question’s current stats in relation to the NFL as a whole.

Since the 2021 season, when he returned to Carolina for his second tenure with the Panthers, Cam Newton has not participated in an NFL game. It’s very evident that Newton is still active and ready to play backup football in the NFL when circumstances warrant it.
Brock Purdy is the opposite player to Cam Newton. Can’t blame Cam for being tremendously off the mark here, he’s protecting his ego.

Brock Purdy doesn’t have a single award to his name. If you ask any Niner fan if they were picked Brock pretty right now or prime Cam Newton, I can give it to you they’re saying prime Cam Newton. https://t.co/geEIyrvB6S
