Bo Nix, the new quarterback for the Broncos, and his loved ones will always treasure this moment.

On Thursday, with the Broncos holding the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Nix, the former quarterback for the Oregon Ducks, was waiting to hear his name called from his house with his wife, Izzy, and their family. Denver brass contacted Nix.

The 24-year-old Nix is seen on a couch as his phone rings, having a brief conversation with Broncos coach Sean Payton before the team submits the pick in the video posted on X by the Oregon Football account.

When Nix’s inner circle heard NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announce the quarterback’s name on TV during the draft in Detroit a little while later, they cheered and applauded.

Izzy, who married Nix in July 2022, gave her spouse a hug at that tender time.

Russell Wilson was cut by the Broncos in March after just two seasons, thus they were looking for a franchise quarterback.

Three years after Gang Green picked quarterback Zach Wilson with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Denver acquired Wilson in a deal with the Jets this week.

According to NFL analyst Albert Breer, the Broncos had been “quietly” investigating Nix in the days leading up to the draft.

Bo Nix, who transferred to Oregon prior to the 2022 season after starting his collegiate career at Auburn in 2019, completed his throwing career in 2023 with 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Following Caleb Williams (No. 1 to the Bears), Jayden Daniels (No. 2 to the Commanders), Drake Maye (No. 3 to the Patriots), Michael Penix Jr. (No. 9 to the Falcons), and J.J. McCarthy (No. 10 to the Vikings), he was the sixth quarterback selected in the first round on Thursday.

Former Auburn cheerleader Izzy wrote Nix a heartfelt letter in January while they were waiting for their “next adventure.”

“I cannot imagine our story without these (not 1, but 2!!!) years in Oregon, along with the incredible friends, teammates, and coaches who came along with it. Give God a yes when He calls, and He will do immeasurably more than you can ask, think, or imagine. Here’s to our next adventure, @bonix10” On Instagram at the time, she wrote.

Later, Nix addressed this in the comments: “Don’t know what I would do without you. Love you more than anything.”
