Biggest boom-or-bust players for 2021 Fantasy Football
Boom-or-Bust Fantasy Players : Nothing is more important in Fantasy Football than nailing your draft picks. While everybody is fighting for consistent players in the earlier rounds, what really makes the difference between fighting for the trophy or missing the playoffs is how much you hit in your late-round picks. Just as important as having a superstar in your team, having a worthy replacement for him can do wonders for your season.
When you are drafting in the late rounds, it’s always valid to take a risk into a player that you believe will surprise everybody with a breakout Fantasy Football season. You don’t have much to lose anyway, so picking up a guy that you have a lot of faith in can be the difference for your season.
But if he fails to live up to your expectations, then you’ll probably be stuck with a lack of depth on the roster, a problem that surely will bite you when the season gets down to the wire. Busts, in this case, are not players who are going to be picked earlier and disappoint throughout the season, but players with a high upside whose chance of striking gold in a given week is slim, but if you do, a high reward awaits for you. Their main theme throughout the season is their inconsistency from one game to another.
Check out possible boom-or-bust players for the 2021 NFL Fantasy Football season that you should take a chance in the last rounds of your fantasy draft:
QB: Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans. The problem with Tannehill is that, even though he’s got A. J. Brown and Julio Jones to throw to, this is still a team built to run the football with Derrick Henry. He’s projected as QB11 and his ADP is 95, which would put him as an interesting late-round option that can win you some games in given weeks, but you can’t count on him as a consistent player week in and week out.

RB: Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles. Sanders is someone you have to draft with a grain of salt. He’s a solid RB2 with the upside to be the RB1 of your Fantasy Football team, but then again his inconsistency hurts his production – he had a lot of drops and fumbles in 2020 and training camp practices are showing that he’s not much better in that regard. If he keeps missing for the Eagles’ offense, he’ll probably lose a ton of snaps, hurting your team also.

RB: Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders. Jacobs‘ value dropped a lot in 2021 as the Raiders signed Kenyan Drake also. Even though Jacobs is the better back, Drake is the best receiving option from the two players, so make sure you won’t spend a high draft pick on him. His 23.3 ADP puts him as RB16, so he may be a really good bet if you take him from the third round or later. Before that? Not so good.

WR: Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland Browns. If I was you, I certainly wouldn’t put much stock into Odell Beckham Jr. for this fantasy football season. Beckham will be coming off a major injury and his talent is still not fully apparent since he joined the Browns. With Kevin Stefanski’s offense focused on running the ball and the play-action, his status as a star is in doubt. He’s a great pick up for the later rounds, but don’t sweat if you miss him during the middle rounds also.

WR: Will Fuller, Miami Dolphins. Fuller, with 106.1 ADP and a WR42 designation, is the perfect example of a boom-or-bust player: you can’t expect consistency from him at all, but on any given week he’s gonna win football games for you. He’s a fantastic deep threat who probably won’t see a lot of targets during Dolphins’ games because of the receiving depth that Miami possesses, but if you’re short of options and has to start in one day, it can be the lucky day for you.

WR: Henry Ruggs, Las Vegas Raiders. Everything that he just said about Fuller can be translated to Ruggs, albeit on a smaller basis. He’s an inconsistent deep threat that can win you games if you are lucky enough to start him on a Sunday where he’ll catch two or three deep targets. He’s even deeper than Fuller in the draft, as his ADP is only 126.

TE: Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles. Ertz is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles now, but that can change soon as the tight end is unsatisfied with his situation in the team and wants to be traded, preferably for a contender. Right now, his status as TE17 makes him an interesting backup option, but if he gets traded, he’ll probably become the starter for his new team, unlike in Philadelphia as he has to share snaps with Dallas Goedert. He’s still got quality to produce as a top tight end.
