Best Rookie NBA Draft Seasons of the Decade

Though drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers with the No. 1 by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2009 NBA draft, Blake Griffin didn’t step on the floor until the 2010-2011 season.

After undergoing knee surgery in what was supposed to be his rookie season, Griffin entered the 2010 NBA campaign, ready to prove why he was the No. 1 pick a year earlier.

And from the second he stepped on the floor, he was an absolute highlight film, becoming the talk of the NBA. His highlight-reel dunks and his athleticism were breathtaking.

Griffin averaged 22.5 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, shooting over 50 percent from the field and capping it off with a Rookie of the Year award.

Now onto the drafts of the last decade-:

2010 NBA Draft

John Wall was the number one pick by the Washington Wizards, and out of the many other names in this draft, Wall had the best year out of them all. Wall was lighting fast and immediately replaced Tony Parker for the fastest guard in the NBA.

Demarcus Cousins was also a part of this draft, being drafted 5th overall by the Sacramento Kings. He was a bully when he played for the Kings but has declined since then.

Gordon Hayward was selected 9th overall by the Utah Jazz. Still, the most prominent head-scratcher was Paul George being the 10th overall pick because out of all the players, George is the one making the most difference for his team.

2011 NBA Draft

The first overall pick in the draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Kyrie Irving followed by Kemba Walker going 9th overall for the Charlotte Hornets, Klay Thompson at number 11 for the Golden State Warriors, Kawhi Leonard with the 15th overall pick to the San Antonio Spurs, Nikola Vicevic to the Orlando Magic with the 16th overall pick, Tobias Harris went at 19 to the Magic as well. The entire NBA looked made a mistake to look over Jimmy Butler, who went for the 30th pick to the Chicago Bulls.

This is the best draft from 2010 to 2015, so we will let you decide who has had the best career so far.

2012 NBA Draft

The 2012 NBA draft gives its predecessor a run for their money in being the best draft class in five years. Anthony Davis was the number 1 pick by the New Orleans Pelicans, followed by Bradley Beal, who was selected 3rd.

And six teams made the mistake of not picking Damian Lillard as he went to the Portland Trail Blazers with the 6th pick. The Detroit Pistons selected the rebounding demi-god, Andre Drummond, at number 9. And then we move onto the second round of the draft, where we got a few brilliant sleepers in Draymond Green and Khris Middleton with the 35th and 39th pick. But out of these, Anothony Davis had the most impact and the best season too.

2013 NBA Draft

The following draft did not give us quantity but quality. Victor Oladipo was selected 2nd overall by the Orlando Magic and had the best rookie season. But the rest of the two names are having much better careers now. Giannis Antetokounmpo was selected 15th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks and is the best power forward. The highest-paid center in NBA history, Rudy Gobert, also went 27th to the Utah Jazz.

2014 NBA Draft

Another draft full of potential but took a while to develop in the league fully. Andrew Wiggins was the first pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers, followed by Joel Embiid at number 3 by the Philadelphia 76ers. Julius Randle, who has become the cornerstone of the Knicks franchise, was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers at number 7. Zach Lavine went at the 13th spot to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the biggest surprise was Nikola Jokic, who went to the Denver Nuggets with the 41st pick. in the second round. And out of these, Lavine was the one to catch everyone’s attention, yet two names on this list are currently in the MVP contention race.

2015 NBA Draft

2015 was a historic NBA draft for a few countries as the Latvian Kristaps Porzingis was drafted 4th overall by the New York Knicks, and the Indian Satnam Singh went at number 52 to the Dallas Mavericks. These are the first players in history to represent their country in the NBA. As for the rest, Karl Anthony-Towns was drafted 1st overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves, followed by D’Angelo Russell to the Los Angeles Lakers. The latest 70 point scorer Devin Booker was the 13th overall pick by the Phoenix Suns, and other good role players like Kelly Oubre Jr. and Terry Rozier went at 15 & 16, respectively.

And it was clear from day one of the 2015  NBA seasons that Karl Anthony-Towns will have the best season.
