Bears QB Justin Fields Have Three Teams Lined Up To Acquire Him

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Chicago Bears “spent most of the week gauging interest around the league” in quarterback Justin Fields.

Bears QB Justin Fields Have Three Teams Lined Up To Acquire Him

According to Russini, there is a perception outside of Chicago that the Bears are considering switching quarterbacks, which would reduce the team’s power and create a “soft” market for the signal-caller.

Though he claimed he “want(s) to do right by Justin” in the case that Fields’ time in the Windy City is coming to an end, Bears general manager Ryan Poles would not commit to a single obvious route at quarterback ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, and Las Vegas Raiders are the three clubs who have reportedly “expressed some level of interest” in 24-year-old signal-caller Brandon Fields. Fields is likely to have a number of suitors.

So far, Bears general manager Ryan Poles has kept things close to the vest. He implied that he doesn’t want to sell the Ohio State alum to the highest bidder by implying that Fields’ input on where he ends up would be taken into account.

“The majority opinion is the Bears would corral a second- or third-round pick, but there was some variation in those responses,” Howe stated. “One executive said he’d be worth a second-rounder or its equivalent value in a package of a third- and fifth-round pick.”

In 2023, Fields did not have the breakthrough campaign that some had anticipated. The fact that wide receiver D.J. Moore was acquired for the first overall selection in 2023 definitely appeared to indicate that his potential was highly valued internally.

Over 13 starts, throwing for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions wasn’t a bad return.

As reported by NBC Sports Chicago, the Falcons have reached out to the Bears regarding Fields’ availability in addition to merely expressing interest. This offseason, Atlanta—which has 2024 contracts with Taylor Heinicke and Desmond Ridder—is anticipated to improve at quarterback. In order to earn the right to start working in 2024, neither signal caller accomplished much in 2023.

Although head coach Mike Tomlin said in January that Kenny Pickett “will be challenged from a competition perspective,” the Steelers are determined to give him another chance to secure his position as the starting quarterback. By adding Fields, Pittsburgh would have a quarterback competition between two impact players who were previously selected in the first round.

Aidan O’Connell is probably not an NFL starting quarterback, even if he had a strong rookie year. Jimmy Garoppolo is currently in Las Vegas. Fields would have a great supporting group with the Raiders, which would feature tight end Michael Mayer, running back Josh Jacobs, receivers Davante Adams, Jakobi Myers, and Hunter Renfrow.
